Yuvira Montilla

Painter

Yuvira Montilla was born in Santo Domingo, D.R.  With no formal training she started painting in 1980. Later in 1987, she joined the cultural workshop of avant-guard artist, Silvano Lora. That same year she presented her first major oeuvre, the "Exposition from My Esoteric View", at the culture halls of the Ambassador hotel. In addition afterward, she featured an individually show, entitled: "Magical Forms Of Being". Between the years of 1987 and 2000, actively and enthusiastically, she participated in workshops and marginal exhibitions as a collaborator for Mr. Lora, as well as teaching Art workshops for low-income housing projects and Prisons in the Dominican Republic.
