Teresa Pelaez

Teresa Pelaez was born in Barahona, a small town located on the west outskirts of the Dominican Republic facing the Caribbean sea. As a photographic major, she studied Basic Photography at the New York Institute of Photography, New York City (2001).  She was an active member of FotoGrupo from 2002 to 2005. During that time, Ms. Pelaez participated in her first collective exhibition at the Casa de la Cultura Dominicana in Manhattan.

As the digital era was taking over, Pelaez was opening her enthusiasm in Internet communities for Photography organizations such as Digital Image Café.  As a result of her artistic efforts, she received various awards like: Pictures of The Day Award, Photo Theme of the Month, Better Photo Member, Fifth Place Finalist; and Theme Digital Art. 

Ms. Pelaez has exhibited her work in numerous art institutions such as The Gallery Space at the Russ Berrie Medical Science Pavilion, Columbia University; as well as ADAVARTE II/The Visual Arts Festival of Washington Heights & Inwood; Hintersteiner Gallery at CB 12 to name just a few.
