Jose Luis Decena

José Luís Decena is a painter and sculptor who were born in Santo Domingo, DR in 1972. From early age he began to feel passion by the painting.  He began to paint when he was 7, drawing with pencil and crayons.  Mr. Decena took his first painting classes in Alianza Dominicana in 2002; And continued studying with the instructor Jorge Reyes. Mr. Decena was a visitor for the program of the Metropolitan Museum in 2002. He has participated in some fairs and it has visited diverse places.  His first solo exhibit was in Alianza Dominicana in 2003. Mr. Decena has extensively exhibited his work in group show such as the Uptown Art Stroll 2007; ADAVARTE I & II-the visual arts festival of Washington Heights/Inwood in New York City just to name a few. José Luís Decena is a winner of two grants in 2008 and 2009 from NoMAA.
